Matthew Sochat

Matthew is from New Hampshire and graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst in 2008 with majors in biochemistry and the classics. He is finishing up his third year of medical school at Brown and hopes to find his calling in medicine very soon. Mathew enjoys video/computer gaming, cooking, making up puns, and a refreshing early morning run.

Melissa Cranford

Melissa is from Dayton, Ohio and graduated in 2009 from Brown University with a Bachelors of Science degree in human biology. She is a third-year student at Brown's medical school and is concentrating in women's reproductive health with plans to pursue a career in OB/GYN. Melissa loves cooking, watching shows about cooking, taking trips that involve cooking, blogging about cooking...(and secretly wishes she were a chef).

 
 

Nedim Durakovic

Nedim was born in Mostar, GBosnia and Herzegovina. In the 1990s his family immigrated to Minnesota, where they made their new home. He will be starting an otolaryngology residency next year at Washington University in St. Louis. In his free time, Nedim can be found rowing, learning new languages, and enjoying his time with family and friends.

 
 

Nachi Gupta, PhD

Nachi is from Philadelphia. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with majors in mathematics, economics, and computer science, and earned his PhD in mathematics from Oxford University in 2008. Before medical school, he worked in missile defense at a research facility near Boston and in economics research for a Europe-based hedge fund. In his spare time, Nachi enjoys modeling and trading currencies, playing guitar, and catching up with friends.

 
 

Julia Heneghan

Julia is from upstate New York. She earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Brown University, where she is now a third-year medical student. When not at the hospital, Julia enjoys reading, rooting for the Yankees, and volunteering in the Providence schools.

 
 

Linda Ratanaprasatporn

Linda hails from New York City. She graduated from Brown University with a degree in human biology and is currently a second-year medical student. She enjoys yoga and cooking.

 
 

Lisa Ratanaprasatporn

Lisa (Linda’s twin sister) graduated from Brown University in 2010 with a degree in human biology. A current second-year medical student, she likes Bikram yoga, farmer’s markets, and peanut butter.

 
 

Sarah Schmidhofer

Sarah is from Pittsburgh and graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in cognitive science. She is in her third year at Brown’s medical school, with a concentration in contemplative studies. As a yoga teacher, Sarah is studying the effects of yoga and meditation on health, and is working toward a holistic model of health care. In her free time, she can be found doing yoga, ceramics, and dance,

 
 

Dana Scott

Dana is from Rhode Island and graduated from Brown University in 2009 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Italian studies and biology. In her third year of medical school at Brown, she intends to pursue a career in OB/GYN. In her spare time, Dana enjoys baking, exercising, and reading novels.

 
 

Michael Xiong

Michael is from Boston and attended Boston University as an undergraduate, where he obtained degrees in economics and math. He is now a second-year medical student at Brown. Michael’s hobbies include playing the violin and guitar, portrait photography, and improving his topspin serve.
